What was the Kittiko-Hachchiko Movement?

In 1984 Karnataka government set up a company named as Karnataka Pulpwood Limited, 30000 hectares of lands were given to the company for free for 40 years. The company started planting eucalyptus for making paper pulp.

Against this, people of the region started Kittika Hachchikko movement, that means pluck and plant. In this movement, they would pluck eucalyptus and plant seeds that were useful to them.
