What is defection?

Defection means changing the membership from a party. It is a practice where a person who gets elected to the legislative assembly from a party leaves that party and acquires membership of another party.

This is a negative action because the members change the party in the lure of becoming a minister or for cash rewards. The parties influence the members with monetary power.
