Q2 of 22 Page 5

What are the things which are double of the same thing called?

The things which are double of same thing are called equal to each other.

Consider a line A to be of 2 units and two other lines B and C which are double of A.

Now length of line B becomes 4 units and length of line C also becomes 4 units.

This implies length of line B and C are equal.

(i) Given any two distinct points A and B, there exists a third point C which is in between A and B.

(ii) There exist at least three points that are not on the same line.

Do these postulates contain any undefined terms? Are these postulates consistent?

Do they follow from Euclid’s postulates? Explain.
