Match of the year

It was a great opportunity for me as I got a chance to watch a cricket match between the two legends of Indian cricket Dhoni and Kohli. It was the time for the opening IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. I had already taken my seat. Both the teams were on the ground. It was a beautiful play ground. There was greenery, around it and you could hear the entire crowd cheer for their heroes. The weather was very charming and a gentle, cold breeze was blowing. I was excited to watch the match.

The audience was also excited. They were blowing whistles and shouting slogans. All of us had been waiting for the match to start. The referees were also on the ground. The whistle blew which was a signal to both the teams to line up as the Chief Minister was in the stadium for inauguration. After formal introduction, the match was about to begin. The players of both the teams were in full zeal to show their game. It was time to toss. The toss was won by Kohli who opted for batting. All of a sudden there was an announcement to be be aware of the unknown things found around and keep them away. There was a secret report of some terrorist being in the ground among crowd. The two captains looked tense. Nobody knew, what to do. The cricketers were asked to vacate the ground until the situation was under control. Suddenly, there was a commotion in one of the corners of the stadium. The police was there and they were holding two persons by their collar, their hands in cuffs and took them away at their gun point. The two terrorists had been taken under arrest.

Now, there was another announcement that everything was alright. The warning had been taken back. The captains were back on the ground. The audience was pleased. There was a great thrill in the match. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 3 runs. Everyone was delighted.

A life changing experience

It was a sunny Monday morning in the winter season. All the people were out for the daily routine and to purchase the domestic requirements. I went to get some clothing from the market but there was a long wait for the bus. The wind was icy cold so the people were enjoying the sun overhead.

People were eagerly waiting for the arrival of the bus. I saw a bus approaching towards the bus stand and this was the bus which, I had to catch. The bus came and stopped at the proper place. A crowd gathered there to get inside the bus. Suddenly, I felt a hand touching my pocket. I was alert. I caught the hand and turned back. I saw a tall boy putting his hand in my pocket. I caught him, red handed picking my pocket. The boy behind me wanted to pick my pocket for the reason that he was hungry from last two days. Now, I felt sorry for it and got off the bus. I asked him what would he like to eat and he just said that anything that could satisfy his hunger. I took him to a food outlet nearby and bought him a meal. After this incident the boy's eyes looked satisfied. And I began conversing with him. During this conversation he said that he had been sold by his parents to a contractor who engaged children in begging, robbing and selling news paper on streets. I was shocked on hearing the words of this boy and my eyes were filled with tears and I decided to do something for such children. At that moment I didn’t have the enough means or money to help them all but at least he was the one person I could start with. I took him to a stationery shop nearby which was owned by my father’s friend and asked him to let that boy work there in return of some food and shelter. He readily agreed with me. This was an extraordinary experience of my life.

Today it has been 3 years since that incident and I have helped more than 60 such children. I along with my father and uncles support search for shops where there is a requirement of people to work. Then I locate any such children who would be willing to earn. The work is not very tiring. They are just involved in the counting and packing of products according to the orders that the shop receives and in return they are given some nominal money day to day which satisfies there basic need for food and shelter.
