Mention one drawback of monoculture.

Many farmers grow only one type of crop say paddy in the same field year after year.This practice is called monoculture crop.

Drawbacks of monoculture are:

a. When a farmer grows only one type of crop, there is depletion of same type of nutrient from the soil. The soil become weak and unable to support healthy plant growth

b. Monocropping also creates the spread of pests and diseases, which must be treated with more chemicals.
