The concept of planning in India can be traced back to the pre-independence era. The idea of planning was widely spread after the Great Depression in the agricultural sector. In the year 1934, the first blueprint of India's planning was given by an engineering administrator M. Visvervaraya.
The Planning commission was an Institution of the Government of India which had the responsibility of formulating a five-year plan.
The first plan was launched in, 1951. The Planning commission was replaced by NITI AAYOG in 2018. The chairman is Mr. Narendra Modi. Mr Rajiv kumar and Mr Amitabh Kant are deputy chairman and CEO respectively. It is the best platform for all the states to work together in the national interest. It is a revolutionary reform based on collaborative federalism.
