Ocean currents are the horizontal continuous flow of a mass of water from one place to another. They are of 2 types – warm and cold ocean current. The meeting of cold and warm currents results in the formation of thick fog. Labrador Current meets the Gulf Stream off the coast of Newfoundland. The regions where warm and cold ocean currents meet are also rich in fishing grounds. Example: Grand Bank near the North American coast in the Atlantic Ocean and Dogger Bank near the European coast.
