(i) 4x = 52² - 48²

4x = 4 × 100

4x = 400

x = 100

(ii)14x = 47² - 33²

Using formula:

(a – b) (a + b) = a² – b², we get

14x = (47 – 33) (47 + 33)

14x = 14 × 80

x = 80
