Find the HCF and LCM of the following integers by applying the prime factorization method.

12, 15 and 21


The numbers are expressed as follows:

12 = 2 × 2 × 3


15 = 3 × 5


21 = 7 × 3


So for finding the HCF we may write as follows:



So HCF = 3


= 3


For finding the LCM we may write as follows:



So LCM = 22 × 3 × 5 × 7


= 420
