Q6 of 21 Page 10

Why is law enforcement so important?

Law enforcement means a system of society that promotes adherence to the law by discovering and punishing the people who have violated the rules and regulations of governing society. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that laws are followed and not violated by the people.

Law enforcement is very important due to the following reasons:

a) It helps to maintain the democratic setup of the country. For example, if a foreign company decides to set up a factory in India but at the cost of providing an unsafe working environment for its workers. This violates the fundamental right of the right to life of a worker.

b) It makes the people comply with the safety norms of the condition of the factory or the workplace in general. For example, the Bhopal Gas tragedy took place because the safety laws made not strong in the country.

c) Now more and more companies are being set up in India both local and international businesses, so it has become extremely important for the government to set up stronger laws to protect the workers right as well as the consumers.
