Why was hunting popular in India? What were its effects?

In India, Hunting was a part of the culture and customs of the royal kings and nobles, and they did as part of their enjoyment and to show their courage and bravery. As we have seen many Mughal paintings depicting the scene of how royal people are enjoying hunting. Britishers believed that large animals were the symbol of wild, primitive and savage society. They rewarded people for hunting large and wild animals.

As a result, Hunting by these people had increased to such level during the British rule that most of the animals became extinct.
