Q9 of 27 Page 1

Write three types of blood vessels. Give one important feature of each.

The three types of blood vessels are:

Artery: Arteries carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart to all of the body's tissues.

Vein: Veins carry blood back to the heart. Veins return deoxygenated blood back to the heart after arteries carry blood out. The vena cava is the largest vein in the body.

Capillary: These are small and thin blood vessels. Capillaries connect arteries and veins. They have thin walls that allow oxygen, nutrients, carbon dioxide, and other waste products to pass to and from cells.
