Explain the geographical location of Karnataka in India.


Karnataka is southern part of India. It is one of the 29 states of India. It is India’s eight largest states according to area. It is spread over an area of 1, 91, 791 sq.kms. Its length is 750 km which is stretched from Aurad taluk in Bidar district to Chamarajnagar district in the south. Its width is 400 km from the west to east. It is located approximately between 11.5 degree north and 18.5 degree north latitudes and 74 degree east and 78.5 degree east longitudes. Karnataka comprises the Deccan Plateau, the Western Ghats Mountain Range and the Coastal Plains. Karnataka is bordered by Maharashtra and Goa states in the north, Arabian Sea in the west, Kerala and Tamilnadu states in the south and Andhra Pradesh in the east.
