List out the types of constitution.



There are three types of constitution:


a) Written or unwritten constitution. A written constitution is one where most fundamental principles for governance are put together in a set of documents (India has a written constitution). An unwritten one is where the laws of the land are not set down in a set of documents but are based on legal precedence and customs (such as in the United Kingdom).


b) Federal and unitary governments have different types of constitutions. A federal government has a more rigid constitution that is not as open to accepting amendment. A unitary government has a far more flexible constitution.


c) A constitution may be rigid or flexible. A rigid constitution is one which is harder to change or amend, or the process of amendment may be long-drawn. A flexible constitution is easier to amend.
