Explain about the aquatic biomes on Earth.

An aquatic ecosystem is an ecosystem which is in a body of water. Living organisms in aquatic biomes live and interact with one another. The two main types of the aquatic ecosystem are-

Fresh Water Biomes- It consists of lakes, ponds, rivers, streams wetlands, etc. It covers 0.78% of the Earth. Freshwater biomes are influenced by the volume of water, water flow, the composition of oxygen, temperature, etc. Human beings depend upon fresh water for various purposes like irrigation, drinking, etc. Common plants and animals which are found here are- lotus, water lily turtles, crocodiles, etc.

Marine Biomes- It is the largest ecosystem on earth. It covers approx...71% of the earth surface and contains approx...97%of the planet's water. They are continuous bodies of salt water and provide a variety of plants and animals. Coral reefs are the second kind of marine biomes. Estuaries are third unique marine biomes where salt water and fresh water mix. Water provides maximum mobility to marine organisms. In marine biomes, nutrients are circulated more quickly and efficiently. Main plants are-Algae, Phytoplankton.
