(a) Henry, the Navigator laid foundation of long sea voyages and he also established a navigation school to train sailors.



(b) Causes for the geographical discoveries are-


1. Curiosity fuelled by renaissance led sailors to discover new lands.


2. Missionaries went to voyages to preach gospel to the non-believers of distant lands.


3. Europeans wanted to find the new sea routes for trading as the old sea routes were being blocked by the Ottoman Turks.


4. The monarchs supported the voyages so they can get resources from the trade and free themselves from the dependencies of the nobles.


(c) The Spanish conquered, defeated and colonized the native Americans. The colonizers massacred natives made them slaves and completely destroyed their culture. Many natives died due to the diseases brought to their land by the colonizers.



(d) The trade exchange between the three countries was known as the Triangular trade. For example, the Tran- Atlantic trade was known as the triangular trade between Europe, Africa and America because the Europe was purchasing salves from Africa and transporting them to America.
