What was the role of technology during the nineteenth century?

During the 19th century, a vast expansion of colonies called for the invention of new and advanced technology and inventions. There was a need for good and faster communication and transport system to transport raw and finished product to promote trade.

Faster trains and lighter wagons were invented to make transportation cost-effective. Sooner, refrigerated trains were invented to transport meat and perishable goods. This reduced the cost of meat and perishable products which were transported to England and other European countries.
