What were the main results of the Second World War?

World War II had several economic and social consequences. It also helped in shaping the modern world. Some of them are as follows:


• There was a heavy loss of life and property as nuclear weapons were used for the first time.


• The world got divided into two major blocks – Western block supporting Capitalism and Eastern Block supporting Communism. This led to the Cold war.


• Imperialism was abolished and most of the countries that were colonized established themselves as democracies.


• UNO was established to preserve peace and order among the Nations of the world.


• Truman, then the President of America, promised to help the war victim countries of Europe economically so that they do not support communism.


• Marshall and Molotov Plans worked for the development of war-torn countries in Europe and also promoted trade and economy of these countries.


• Eastern conquerors also asked for remunerations for war reparations from over-powered nations


• The end of WW-II also saw the rise of the nuclear age.


• Cold War subsequently led to the independence of the Balkan States and the States under the Soviet Nations.


• Nepal gained prominence as Nepali soldiers fought on behalf of the British army. They earned the honour.


Nepal established itself as a democracy as it had already faced the adverse effects of imperialism.
