British administrators translated vernacular novels in English as they are sourced from where Britishers can able to understand the native life and customs in India. British came to India in order to rule so it was important for them to know at first about the culture of India, and vernacular novels are best to serve their purpose. This would help them to govern Indian society in a more efficient way.
