Why do people migrate? Explain the two sets of factors that influence migration in the world.

People migrate for better economic and social life. They move from one place to another to get job opportunities and earn more money for their livelihood.

The two sets of factors that influence migration in the world-

Push factors- These factors force people to leave a place.

Lack of job, war, natural disaster or political instability are some of the push factors

I. Lack of job opportunities- People living in villages often move to cities and towns in search of better job opportunities. In India, many people migrate from Bihar and Bengal to Mumbai or Delhi.

II. Religious Tolerance- Sometimes when people of a particular religion and sects are not tolerant, then people have to move from that place to another to practice and follow their religion freely.

III. Political Freedom- People sometimes move because they are not happy with their government or leader or form of government. Wars also force people to migrate.

Pull factors- Make the place of destination more attractive than a place of origin.

I. Job Opportunities- Many people move to other cities in the country or to other countries because of better job prospects. People want a better salary and quality of life. Many Indians migrate to the US and other countries for a job.

II. Education- Those people who did not get a good education then they leave their own country. They want better career prospects and for that, they move to abroad.

III. Medical Care- People migrate to other places because of better medical care and superior medical facilities. Cities which have bigger hospitals and good doctors attract the people to move there.
