What can be the cause of helical motion of a charged particle?

When the projection of a particle is at an angle with respect to the magnetic field, then the motion caused is helical. The perpendicular component to the field will rotate the particle in circular path and the parallel component will move it in straight line. The cumulative motion is helical.
