Give the meaning of the term ‘Antyaja’.

The literal meaning of Antyaja is born outside the cast system or the last born. Several jati was originated from Varna system on the basis of two attributes known as Guna meaning natural characteristics and Karma meaning action, acts. Among such jati-s, a few were pushed to the lowest rung of the social ladder because of their unclean food habits and amoral attitude which were unacceptable to the rest of society. Hence they were named as Antyaja. They provide inexpensive labor to both peasants and Zamindars.
