Mention any three applications of the internet. Explain one of these in detail.

The internet is the backbone of the world with all important tasks relying on it. Some of the applications of internet are:

(i) e-mail (ii) web browsing and file transfer (iii) internet banking


Email: one of the first and most widely used utility of internet is the transfer of messages and media, also known as electronic mail (or e-mail). It is an important part of both formal and informal conversation which also allows the user to attach documents such as pictures, resumes, presentations etc. Usually, a user subscribes to a mailing services (like Gmail, yahoo etc.) in order to write and receive e-mails. Almost all mailing services are free which enables billions of users to connect with each other from different parts of the world.
