If x = 2sin2Ɵ and y = 2cos2Ɵ + 1, then find x + y.

x + y


= 2sin2Ɵ + 2cos2Ɵ + 1


= 2(sin2Ɵ + cos2Ɵ) + 1


= 3 … (because sin2Ɵ + cos2Ɵ = 1)
