Why are lysosomes

Lysosomes are known as suicide bags of the cell because they contain lytic enzymes capable of digesting cells and unwanted materials. lysosomes can be termed as a waste disposal system of the cell. For almost all types of organic materials they contain digestive enzymes. For example, when a cell gets damaged, Lysosomes may burst and the enzymes digest their own cell. Therefore lysosomes are known as the Suicidal bags of a cell or we can say that they possess different kinds of hydrolases on release of these enzymes that cause death of the cell.
