Find the remainder when y3 + y2 - 2y + 5 is divided by y - 5.


Again, we should evaluate p(5)
Let p(y) = y3 + y2 - 2y + 5 
... p(5) = 53 + 52 - 2 x 5 + 5
           = 125 + 25 - 10 + 5
           = 145
Thus, we find that p(5) is the remainder when
p(y) is divided by y - 5.
