Answer the following question in about 120-150 words:

Why did the invisible man choose Mr. Marvel as his helper?

OR

How does Molly Farren affect the course of action that takes place in the story?

Mr Marvel had escaped from Ipling leaving all his notebooks containing his scientific research. He desperately needed his research details and data. But he could not go to Ipling himself. He definitely needed someone else to help him. But he had no one to help him achieve his intensions immediately. He was wandering helter-skelter in search of shelter and food when he came across a big fat man. This was Mr. Marvel. Mr Marvel seemed as segregated from society as he was. He could see sparks of himself in Mr. Marvel.

Mr. Marvel was chosen by him also because he had no option other than choosing him. No one else would help him in such a scenario. Also since Marvel was a man who wasn’t so much in touch with the society, he’d not know about Griffin being outcasted.

Marvel was a scared soul. He could be easily threatened. That’s the trick that Griffin used. He used his powers to threaten Marvel of his life and made him do everything he wanted.

Molly Farren is basically the pivot of the story. She turns the course of the story from the villager's side to that of Silas Marner. The story shows Molly Farren as Godfrey Cass's wife, whom he married without his father's knowledge and who lives apart from him in Batherley with their child. She is a laudanum addict. This means that she is completely disconnected from real life. She is heart-broken and hopeless because she has been left alone by her husband and she receive no love.

She walks into the story as a counter part of Silas Marner. Both of them have left it upon God and are waiting for God to take over their fate. But one hand where Silas has transformed into a warm-hearted man, Farren took to opium and wanted to stay away from the harsh realities till she found her way out to her husband.
