Explain ‘banker to the government’ function of the Central Bank.

Central Bank acts as a banker to the Government. It provides the same banking service to the government as commercial banks provide to people. It accepts deposits of government departments and gives them loans in times of need. It carries out the function of exchange, remittance and other banking operations on behalf of the government. It advises government on the fiscal policy of the country also.
