Q11 of 18 Page 1

How is Anne more mature than Peter? Describe her feelings for him.

Anne is mature than Peter because she is outgoing, mature and energetic. She takes up responsibilities in the Secret Annexe to help her family and to survive the harsh conditions they had to face. She understands that life is full of problems but they can be tackled by working hard and focusses less on her own discomfort.

Annie first saw Peter as obnoxious, lazy and sensitive but they became close friends later on. She grew to like him because she lacked a close friend and formed an emotional bond with him. She began to develop feelings for him and wanted to be near him all the time. Both of them understood each other because they were similar in many ways. They both lacked love and care from their families and very lonely. She was fond of his sense of humour. Peter found it easy to talk to Anne without being shy. They could confide in one another and talked on various subjects without hesitation. Anne was convinced that she was in love with him but Peter only saw her as a close friend and had no romantic feelings for her.
