Magnesium ribbon on burning in air produces

Magnesium is a highly reactive metal. When it is exposed to Oxygen, it reacts immediately to give Magnesium Oxide (MgO), heat that gives light.

The equation of the reaction is as follows:


Mg + O2→ MgO + Heat + Light
