Solve the equation 3x + 2 = 8x - 8 and represent the solution on

i) the number line


ii) the Cartesian plane

We are given that, 3x + 2 = 8x - 8


We get,


3x – 8x = -8 – 2


-5x = -10


x =


x = 2
