The number of girls and boys in a class are in the ratio 7 : 5 and there are 8 more girls than boys. How many girls and boys are there in this class?

Ratio of number of girls and boys in a class = 7 ∶ 5

Let, no. of girls = 7x and no. of boys = 5x


According to problem,


⇒ 7x = 5x + 8


⇒ 2x = 8


⇒ x = 4


∴ Number of girls = 7x = 7 × 4 = 28


Number of boys = 5 × 4 = 20
