Here,

(x₁, y₁) is (2, –2)

⇒ x₁ = 2 and y₁ = -2

(x₂, y₂) is (4, 2)

⇒ x₂ = 4 and y₂ = 2

(x₃, y₃) is (–1, 3)

⇒ x₃ = -1 and y₃ = 3

Hence substituting values in formula for area we get

Area = × [2(2 – 3) + 4(3 – (-2)) + (-1)(-2 – 2)]

Area = × [-2 + 4(5) + 4]

Area = × [20 + 2]

Area = 11 unit²
