Explain by writing a word equation.

Lime stone powder disappears on adding to dilute hydrochloric acids.

Lime stone is chemically calcium carbonate which on reaction with hydrochloric acids produce predominantly three products, calcium chloride, water, and carbon dioxide. Calcium chloride is soluble in water and hence get washed away. Since this chemical change occurs, the insoluble lime stone disappears as Calcium chloride on treatment with Hydrochloric acid. The word equation can be written as:
Lime stone + Hydrochloric acid
Calcium chloride + Water + Carbon dioxide
