Bamboo drip irrigation is one of the oldest methods to transfer spring water using the bamboo pipe. This technique makes use of gravity to transport water from higher to lower region.

Two features of bamboo drip irrigation are as follows:

1. It is used to transport water over a hundred metres of distance. 18-20 litres of water are transported through bamboo pipes over the distance of hundred metres.

2. The direction of flow of water can be determined by changing the position of bamboo pipes.

3. This practice is most popularly carried out in Meghalaya.
