What are plant hormones? Name them. Write their functions.

PLANT HORMONE- The hormones released by the plants are known as plant hormones or phytohormones. They help in the growth and development of the plant.

NAME- The different plant hormones are auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, and abscisic acid.


FUNCTIONS OF THE PLANT HORMONE:


1. AUXIN:


It helps in the growth of the plants, cell elongation. It also plays an important role in the formation of seedless fruit.


2. GIBBERELLINS:


They help in the growth of the stem, seed germination, and flowering.


3. CYTOKININS:


They promote cell division. They help in delaying the aging of the leaves and also promotes the opening of the stomata.


4. ABSCISIC ACID:


It is the type of hormone which inhibits or stops the growth of the plant. It also promotes falling of the leaves and closing of the stomata.
