The sum of three consecutive natural numbers is 114. Find the numbers.

Let x, x + 1 and x + 2 be the three numbers.


Given: the sum of three numbers = 114


⇒ x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 114


⇒ 3x + 3 = 114


⇒ 3x = 111



So, x + 1 = 38 and x + 2 = 39


∴ The three numbers are 37, 38 and 39.
