2. Plants absorb the nutrients and minerals from the soil via water. Hence irrigation is also necessary for the growth of the crops.

3. During the night, the plants receive oxygen from the water.

4. Sometimes monsoons are unpredictable and complete dependence on monsoons could lead to crop failures. The groundwater is also depleting very fast these days. Hence irrigating the crop keeps it alive.
