Is Urbanisation a symbol of development or does it lead to problems?

Urbanisation refers to the movement of people from rural areas to urban areas. It has advantages and disadvantages both.

Advantages of Urbanisation: It leads to economic development of the country. It provides better opportunities for living like good education, health facilities etc. Urbanisation helps in overcoming societal bad norms of old people like child marriage, dowry etc. As they move to the urban area, the people start changing their minds.

Disadvantages of Urbanisation: It can increase the rate of crime in the country as many people get better opportunities but not all. People who do not get better opportunities for work start robbery and other crimes. If the population of the urban area will increase, the demand for shelter, food and other basic needs will also increase. It can result in a shortage of food in the country because when people will migrate, there will no agricultural activity.

From these above points, we can analyse that urbanization is a symbol of development, but it can also lead to problems.
