What is the modern period in India associated with?

Dates play an important role when it comes to writing down history. Both dates and history are associated with each other. James Mill, a Scottish economist and political philosopher divided History into 3 parts- Hindu, Muslim and British which is the widely accepted concept. But later Historians divided Indian history into 3 parts – Ancient, Medieval and Modern. This concept of dates is adopted from the west. In India, the Modern period is associated with the growth of – science, reason, democracy, liberty and equality. These are all the forces of Modernity.
