Q20 of 40 Page 1

What are the various social indicators of development?

The various social indicators of development are: health, education, income, gender equality, etc.

Health and education: A healthy and educated human being is a resource for a country. He will have a positive outlook, will be motivated and use resources in a better manner. He will contribute to national development by taking up new challenges and using his intelligence to its full potential.

Income: Regular desirable income increases the developmental prospects of an individual. Many often lag behind as they are unable to grab the benefits available.

Gender equality: The sex ratio is the ratio of males to females in a population. An ideal ratio should be more or less around 1:1. Skewed sex ratio in favour of males indicates discrimination which goes against the development.
