What was the Rowlatt Act? (CBSE 2011)

Rowlett Act gave the British government a lot of power to suppress political activities and detain political prisoners for up to two years without any trial.

Explanation: It was passed by the Imperial Legislative Council hurriedly despite the opposition of Indian leaders. Gandhi declared a satyagraha against this unfair act.
