Describe any three features of Konkan Railway.

• The Konkan railway is one of the biggest achievements for the Indian Railway in 1998. The states of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka are partners in this undertaking.


• It is the longest rail route connecting from Roha in Maharashtra to Mangalore and it extends up to 750km. therefore it is considered as an engineering marvel.


• It crosses 146 rivers, streams, nearly 2000 bridges and 91 tunnels. Asia’s largest tunnel which is nearly 6.5 km long also lies on this route.
