The first electric train was inaugurated in India on 3 February 1925. It ran between Victoria Terminus (VT) – now Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus - in Mumbai to Kurla. The first long-distance electric passenger train was the Deccan Queen. It was inaugurated on 1 June 1930 and ran as a weekend train between Bombay to Pune.
