A card is drawn at random from a pack of 100 cards numbered 1 to 100.Find the probability of drawing a number which is a square.

As a card is to be drawn from 1 to 100.


∴ n(S) = 100


As we know that largest no less than or equal to 100 which is a perfect square = 100


And, √100 = 10


The perfect square numbers between 1-100 are:


1,4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81,100


∴ there are total 10 numbers from 1 to 100 which are square.


∴ n(E) = 10
