BUY-NOW-PAY-LATER
Once upon a time, there lived a family of three people. Jack and Jill were a young couple. Jack was an easy going person. He was an ingenuous man since he is fooled by the advertisements on easy monthly installments. He lacked worldliness as he seem to be unaware of difficulties which would fall on him in the near future because of these installments.
Though it is good that he bought the house on installments, but buying luxuries too on installments is not a right thing to do.They are attracted by the hire-purchase system. So they buy all the domestic luxuries including their house on installment basis. In one sense their child is not their own because they have not made full payment of Dr. Martin’s bill. The system encourages lavishness by taking loans. The writer points out that the hire-purchase system enables the low- income group to have things, which they cannot buy with their money. On the other hand, the system makes people extravagant. They fall into the habit of borrowing which makes then unhappy.
This is a problem of modern days; people take loans and are unable to repay them. Our grandparents never bought things on installments, they lived a simpler life, they may not have had so many luxuries but they were a happy lot. Today we have everything because we buy things on installments and then we worry that we have to repay them, in doing so we have lost out on the charm of life.
