Why are people considered a resource?

The earth has an abundant supply of objects on it, which can only be converted into resources by the humans. It is because of human demand and capabilities that naturally occurring objects are converted into resources and further utilized to create other new resources. No object can be utilized to its full potential without human intervention. This has made people the most important resource on the planet.
