List out the fundamental rights guaranteed to every arrested person.

Police has to follow some rules with regards to arrest, detention and interrogation mentioned by the Supreme Court. During the investigation, they are not allowed to torture, beat or shoot anyone. Police cannot impose any form of punishment on the prisoner, not even for petty offences. The following Fundamental Rights are mentioned in Article 22 of the constitution and in the criminal laws for the every arrested person which are-

• The person has the Right to know about the offence for which he is being arrested and he is to be informed this at the time of the arrest.

• Within 24 hours of the arrest, the accused should be presented before a magistrate.

• The accused should not be tortured or ill-treated during the arrest or in custody.

• Police cannot use confessions made by the accused in the custody as the evidence against him.

• The women and the boy under the age of 15 cannot be called to the police station only for questioning.
