You are conducting artificial hybridization on papaya and potato. Which one of them would require the step of emasculation and why? However for both you will use the process of bagging. Justify giving one reason.

Emasculation is the process of removal of stamens from a flower. Between papaya and potato, potato bears bisexual flowers and papaya bears unisexual flowers. Therefore, potato would require emasculation.
But bagging (the process of covering the stigma with a bag of butter paper to protect from undesired pollens) is performed in both as the pollens from other plants can contaminate the stigma.
