Write a note on the Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister is the leader of the Legislative Assembly or majority party, Head of the State Government, Council of Ministers, and chief advisor to the Governor. In other words, he is elected as the head of the state. He is appointed by the Governor. His powers and functions include:


(i) formulating policies for the Government and State.


(ii) taking part in state assembly meetings and discussing important matters related to governance and state.


(iii) dissolving the Legislative Assembly and its members in case of conflicts.


(iv) he is a link between Governor, Council of Ministers and Legislative Assembly.


(v) summoning and presiding over the meetings of Council of Ministers


(vi) advising Governor regarding nominations.


(vii) Dissolving general problems and issues of the State.
